What To Take With You

What possessions you bring with you, is entirely dependent on what you think you will need, what you want to keep and whether you want to pay excess baggage at the airport.

Having familiar items around can help you settle and if you have children, it might be a good idea to let them bring a few of their favourite toys, games etc.

Baggage allowance varies with different airlines, so don’t forget to check this when booking your flights. Each passenger is allowed one piece of hand luggage, (size and weight restrictions apply), so take advantage of this also. Alternatively you may want to consider having your possessions shipped to Tenerife.

There is no doubt that you won’t need thick sweaters, but a few lightweight tops and t-shirts won’t take up too much room in your luggage. Don’t pack lots of toiletries in your suitcase as you can buy them when you get to Tenerife. This will give you a little more room for other items that are irreplaceable.

If you have a laptop, bring it with you. Laptops can be more expensive to buy in Tenerife and the less expensive laptops only have Spanish Windows installed on them. Don't forget to bring a few plug adapters for any electrical items you bring with you.

Bring birth certificates for each member of the family, marriage certificate, or divorce papers, if applicable. If you have certificates for any qualifications, bring them with you. You may have to have them translated but not all UK qualifications are accepted in Spain, but it is well worth bringing them anyway. If you have children, remember to bring their last year’s school reports, their last year’s school work and anything else you feel would benefit them.

It's worth noting that if you have family and friends that you are leaving behind, it's almost a certainty that they WILL want to come and visit you! Get them to take the things you don't!
